An electrochemical sensor for determination of profenofos (PFF) was prepared. The bimetal-organic framework (MOF-808 (Zr/Ce)) with the organophosphorus hydrolase-like activity was modified on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode. MOF-808 (Zr/Ce) catalyzed the hydrolysis of PFF to form 4-bromo-2-chlorophenol (BCP), and BCP reduced K3 [ Fe(CN)6 ] to K4[Fe(CN)6]. As the amount of PFF in the sample increased, the amount of K4[Fe(CN)6] generated increased, and the electrochemical signal gradually increased, which could realize the indirect determination of PFF. The linear range of the sensor for PFF was 0.5-50 & mu;g/L, and the detection limit was 191 ng/L (3a/K). The sensor was successfully applied to determination of PFF in water samples and soil leachate, with spiking recoveries of 95.0%-105.4% and relative standard deviations of 4.5%-8.7%.
