Summary

Compared with the conventional permanent magnet brushless motor, the magnetic field modulated motor has the characteristics of large torque density and high operating efficiency. However, the magnetic field of the motor and the output torque is fixed, which limits its application. To make the motor magnetic field can adjustable and have the performance of adjustable torque, a topology of magnetic field modulated brushless motor with MgB2 superconductor is proposed in this paper. The outer stator of the model uses MgB2 superconductor excitation winding instead of the permanent magnet of the conventional magnetic field modulated motor for excitation, and the magnetic regulating ring is used as the output rotor. The motor model is established by finite element software. Based on the sensitivity coefficient, the torque and torque ripple of the proposed motor model are optimized by evolutionary algorithm (EA) and response surface method. Finally, the back EMF, iron loss and torque of the motor are calculated. Compared with the conventional magnetic field modulation motor, the magnetic field modulation permanent magnet brushless motor with MgB2 superconductor has better iron loss, torque ripple and output torque.
