Energy analysis for evaluating durability of porous asphalt mixture

摘要

Porous pavement plays an important role in the ecological construction of sponge city, whereas its durability is not sufficient enough due to microcrack propagation through the mortar that links the aggregates and poor adhesion between aggregates and motar. The adhesion would gradually fail under the cyclic loading of vehicles, and this damage process could be characterized by the energy analysis method. Thus, it was essential to evaluate durability of porous asphalt mixture based on Cantabro Test. The mass loss rate of porous mixture was used to characterize the adhesion performance under the certain cyclic impact in Cantabro Test. To further assess the durability of the porous asphalt mixture, the pendulum energy test and fatigue test were conducted. Thereinto, the fracture energy of the mixture and dissipation energy of the asphalt were discussed. The results demonstrated the modifiers of the asphalt were effective for improving the durability of porous asphalt mixture. Finally, the correlation analysis of fracture energy and dissipation energy was carried out and a strong correlation was proved with the goodness up to 0.87.
