This article looks at some of the most important issues relating to the development of geography education and the training of teachers of geography on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Department of Geography at the University of Ljubljana. In the near past interest has grown in further conducting research in this field and in improving the training, mentioned above, although it is rather balanced. The departmental scholars are nationally and internationally known, as well.
