The Significance on Chan Thought of Chinese Han Buddhism for Structuring Modern Chinese Civilization-Exploring Splendid Sources of Traditional Culture to Increase Self-Confidence in Distinctive Chinese Culture

Xi Jinping,the general secretary of CPC,indicated in the Symposia of Philosophy and Science that the Chi-nese civilization has a long history and it is the civilization which lasts thousands of years that has built a solid foundation for the development of Chinese distinctive philosophy and social science.He enumerated on the important address that the flourish of Buddhism in Sui and Tang dynasties has made tremendous contributions to human civilization.Therefore, Han Buddhism has profound influence on both China and around the world from the perspectives of policy,economy, culture,and science.Chinese Han Buddhism is divided into different schools according to their different ways of study and cultivation,among which Chan School is the most influential sect,with its clear and definite lineage and unique ways of study and cultivation.Chan School is composed of Chan culture,Chan study,and Chan meditation.Chan Thought is the core component of Chinese civilization,meanwhile,it influences the Chinese culture profoundly and in a long-term,and forms Chinese distinctive Chan culture,furthermore,Chan culture will facilitate the process of establis-hing Chinese modern civilization.
