摘要
Magnesium borate ceramics have several advantages such as light weight, high-temperature resistance, and low thermal conductivity. However, the poor mechanical properties of magnesium borate ceramics limit their further application. In this study, a combination of dry preparation and low-temperature sintering was proposed for the preparation of fiber-reinforced magnesium borate ceramics (SDHs) made from MgO, H3BO3, and glass fibers. The results from this study confirmed that the SDHs have a low thermal conductivity (0.286-0.677 W m(-1) k(-1)) at 200-800 degrees C while maintaining a certain cold modulus of rupture (23.83-71.95 MPa). The insights gained from this study may be useful for heat preservation and partial load bearing applications.
