A new Fe-Cr-Mo-B-Al steel with outstanding tribo-corrosion resistance in liquid aluminium

摘要

The tribo-corrosion of a metal by liquid aluminium is problematic; thus, a new Fe-Cr-Mo-B-Al steel was con-structed, and its tribo-corrosion behaviours in liquid aluminium were investigated. Our results show that this steel displays outstandingtribo-corrosion resistance in liquid aluminium, mainly arising from the coordinated effect of rod-like Cr-rich M2B (M=Fe, Cr, Mo) borides and irregular blocky Mo-rich M2B borides. The interaction between corrosion and wear primarily contributed to the mass loss of this steel via the degradation of the borides coupled with the fracture and spallation of the corrosion products.
