Summary
The homopolymer of 2,8-bis(octyloxy)-dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide (HPSO) was synthesized by Suzuki polycondensation reaction and utilized as the light-emitting material in fluorescence-based PLED and the host material in phosphorescence-based PLED, respectively. The homopolymer HPSO possesses the LUMO/HOMO levels at -3.10 eV/-6.20 eV and the triplet energy level at 3.02 eV. Utilizing the homopolymer HPSO as the light-emitting material, the fluorescence-based device with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/HPSO/CsF/Al displayed maximal luminous efficiency of 1.3 cd/A. Utilizing the homopolymer HPSO as the host material, the phosphorescence-based device with the configuration of ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PVR/HPSO:FIrpic/Ba/Al displayed maximal luminous efficiency of 6.6 cd/A. The results indicate that the homopolymer HPSO is a promising candidate as a new type of blue-light-emitting material for fluorescence-based PLED and a new type of host material for phosphorescence-based PLED.
