摘要
Abstract Based on page counts of articles published in 60 quality economics journals, the role of research publications was examined for Japan. Economic growth is found to have causal effects on research publications. Impulse responses further indicate that economic growth promotes research outputs. A unique socioeconomic characteristic in Japan explains the causal directions found here.
