Summary
A pyrophosphate compound, Sr2P2O7, and a mixture, (1-x)Sr2P2O7-xSr3(PO4)2 (x 0.06) were prepared by the solid-state reaction method. The phase evolution and microwave dielectric properties of Sr2P2O7 ceramics were investigated, and the change of dielectric properties was discussed when a minor phase, Sr3(PO4)2 introduced. The results show a mixed phase of Sr2P2O7 and Sr3(PO4)2 could be obtained when the molar ratio of Sr/P 1:1 in the raw material, and when the content of Sr3(PO4)2 increased, the f values of samples increased. In particular, when x = 0.060, good microwave dielectric properties were achieved: epsilon r = 7.9, Q x f = 17200 GHz (at 9.9 GHz) and f = +2.09 ppm/degrees C.
