Porous asphalt pavement (PAP) has the advantage of quickly draining pavement water and greatly decreasing driving noise. However, its relatively poor mechanical properties restrict further application. Our previous study revealed the formed system from single size range of limestone aggregate in the dynamic crushing test (DCT) had good mechanical properties and possibly possessed the characteristics of porous gradation. This paper tried to further verify the distribution characteristics of formed system from single size range of basalt aggregate (SSRBA) under DCT and the overall performance of the corresponding mixture. Specifically, the fragmentation behavior of SSRBA under DCT was firstly investigated, and then the scope and distribution characteristics of formed systems was studied; finally, the performance of blended mixture based on the formed system and optimum binder content was studied. Results showed SSRBAs from different sources and production processes exhibited similar fragmentation behavior (objective characteristics of fragmentation behavior) in DCTs, and the distribution de-tails of the formed systems at each size mainly affected by the primary distribution ratio in the selected size range. The blended mixture had edges in compression strength, shearing resistance, high temperature stability, permeability and skid resistance, while showed worse performance in abrasion loss, low temperature cracking, and moisture susceptibility. These findings will provide the basis for the optimal design method of formed system based on DCT.
