摘要
Urea oxidation reaction (UOR) can be used to rebalance the nitrogen cycle and decrease the overpotential of some renewable energy conversion reactions. Herein, nickel nitride was successfully synthesized via the nitridation process of fl-Ni(OH)2 by urea. Nitriding temperature was utilized to regulate the yield of Ni0 species on the surface of nickel nitride. The as-synthesized Ni3N-400 with moderate amount of Ni0 species on the surface exhibits superior d band center position which facilitates the adsorption and desorption of intermediates, thus demonstrating excellent UOR reactivity (70 mA & sdot;cm 2 at 1.6 V vs. RHE), high selectivity, and superior stability, which is comparable to the most excellent catalysts ever reported. This work presents a feasible pathway to tailor the electro-catalytic reactivity of transition metal nitride.
