The thermal spin molecular logic gates modulated by light

Digital electronics and spintronics are based on logic operations. Here, nonequilibrium Green's functions are incorporated with the density functional theory to evaluate the thermal spin transportation features of the photochromic molecule spintronic devices constructed by dihydropyrene/cyclophanediene (DDP/CPD) molecule in alone, series, or parallel, connected with graphene nanoribbons electrodes. Based on calculations, the spinpolarized currents can be manipulated by light. Then, a complete set of thermal spin molecular logic gates is proposed, including AND, OR, and NOT gates. The above logic gates can be employed to perform complex thermal spin molecular logic operations and facilitate all-optical control of thermal spin molecular devices.
