Introduction of seismic and disaster situation of the August24,2016 Perugia MW 6 .2 earthquake in Italy

On August 24,2016,an MW6.2 earthquake occurred in Perugia,Italy,which has caused big injuries and deaths.As we all know,the serious effect of this earthquake and the “judge”event caused by the L′Aquila MW6.3 earthquake in 2009 have largely arose the international attention,especially in the seismicity field.In view of the similar characteristics of risk and disasters compared with that in China,the work on earthquake prevention in Italy maybe have a significance and meaningful reference to China.Based on that concept,this ar-ticle gives a simple,but overall introduction to the earthquake on the major usual aspects, such as the earthquake overview,seismogenic structure and background of the seismicity, monitoring network,rescue and emergency organization and medium-long term prediction works in Italy.We hope that these modules can supply the public some instant and helpful information about this critical earthquake in a short time after the earthquake happened.
