Summary

The China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) is the proposed next-generation fusion facility in China. During its two operational phases, a large fraction of externally driven current is foreseen to meet the scientific goals of the two operating scenarios for CFETR. As one of the key design activities of auxiliary heating mix for CFETR, the design of Electron Cyclotron Resonance Heating (ECRH) system is in progress considering the en-gineering and physical requirements. The conceptual design of the EC system, especially the launcher, will be presented in this paper. Based on the physical requirements and the technical availability, the frequency is chosen to be 170 GHz in order to draw on the technologies development with International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), and the Front Steering Antenna (FSA) is selected as an example to investigate the feasibility of the plant integration design. The beam tracing calculations have been performed to analyze the performance of power deposition and absorption from several launching points. The microwave and optical design of launcher has been carried out to evaluate the maximum power per port and minimize Breeding Blanket (BB) openings.
