A water-soluble benzimidazole derivative for rapidly detecting Cu2+in aqueous solution
摘要
Herein, a water-soluble [O,N,N,O] tetradentate ligand of 2-(5-((2-hydroxybenzylidene)amino)-1H- benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)phenol (BIP) is designed for Cu2 + recognition. It is synthesized in three-step from 4-nitro-o-phenylenediamine and salicylaldehyde with a total yield of 43%. The recognition mechanism is confirmed via HRMS, 1HNMR, and FT-IR, which indicate that the binding ratio of BIP and Cu2 + is 1:1 in phosphate buffered saline (PBS). BIP demonstrates remarkable detection performance and the repro-ducibility for Cu2 + in aqueous solution. The fluorescence response of BIP exhibits an excellent linear response with Cu2 + concentration in the range of 0.2 -5 x 10 -6 mol L -1, and the limit of detection in PBS is 7.70 x 10 -8 mol L -1, with high selectivity and sensitivity. Moreover, BIP is successfully applied in actual water samples to detect Cu2 + with good recoveries. As a result, this work provides possibility and potential application for BIP as a probe in environmental research.
