Summary

An efficient method was proposed for preparing supported platinum nanoparticles on the graphite by the deposition of Pt(0) binuclear clusters. The one-step method serves to promptly deposite Pt particles with a uniform morphology avoiding the use of additional reagents, such as reducing agents and stabilizers, which can be sorbed by carbon supports to contaminate the catalysts. Electron microscopy revealed an average size of platinum nanoparticles of 3-4 nm and a narrow particle-size distribution.
