Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Antibacterial Activities of Two Tetrachlorocuprate(II) Salts with Substituted Methyl Pyridinium
摘要
Two tetrachlorocuprate(II) salts with substituted methyl pyridinium, [Bz-2-MePy](2)[CuCl(4)] (1) and [Bz-4-MePy](2)[CuCl(4)] (2) ([Bz-2-MePy](+) = 1-benzyl-2'-methylpyridinium; [Bz-4-MePy](+) = 1-benzyl-4'-methylpyridinium), were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared (IR), mass spectroscopy (MS), and single-crystal x-ray diffraction. Compound 1 crystallizes in the tetragonal system with space group P4/n, while compound 2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic system with space group Pna2(1). The [CuCl(4)](2-) anion in 1 and 2 exhibits a distorted tetrahedron geometry. Some weak hydrogen bonds such as C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl, and N-H center dot center dot center dot Cl between the anion and cation were observed in 1 and 2. In addition, two salts show good antibacterial activities for Colibacillus and Aurococcus.
