Selective laser melting fabrication and mechanical properties of CLP-type Al cellular auxetic metamaterials with triply periodic minimal surfaces
摘要
In this work, we fabricated triply periodic minimal surface-structured CLP-type (TPMS-CLP, CLP is the abbreviation of Crossed Layers of Parallels) Al cellular metamaterials by a selective laser melting (SLM) method using pure Al powder as raw material and investigated their mechanical failure mechanism and the effects of wall thickness on their mechanical properties. The results showed that the Poisson's ratio of as-prepared TPMS-CLP cellular metamaterials was as low as -1.14 when the strain was smaller than 30%, and their mechanical properties were improved with increasing the wall thickness of their structural units. This work provides a new strategy for designing auxetic materials potentially applicable to many areas of protection engineerings.
