Summary
In this work, 2D V10O24 center dot nH(2)O sheets are synthesized via a facile solvothermal method. When used as a cathode material for aqueous rechargeable zinc ion batteries (ZIBs), the as-prepared V10O24 center dot nH(2)O sheets show high reversible capacity (408 mA h g(-1) at 0.1 A g(-1)), superior long-term cyclability (with a stable capacity of 314 mA h g(-1) over 1000 cycles at 2.0 A g(-1)), as well as excellent rate performance. The impressive electrochemical performance can be attributed to the 2D morphology composed of staked nanosheets and the existence of V4+, which enhances the structural stability, promotes the electrochemical activity and improves the reaction kinetics as demonstrated by electrochemical tests and ex-situ characterizations. This study provides a viable and promising cathode material for practical ZIBs.
