摘要
Early Autumn written by Langston Hughes is a short story about ex-lovers Mary and Bill who come across on Wash ington Square in a dusk of early autumn.The story is composed mainly by short conversation and scenery depiction.This paper investigates the characteristics of Mary and Bill through conversation analysis based on Cooperative Principle and Face Theory.
