Summary
2,5-Dimethylfuran (DMF) is an important candidate for liquid fuels, which can be produced from biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF). Efficient catalysts for selective hydrogenolysis of HMF to DMF under mild conditions without any additives are highly desired. Herein, we designed and prepared a Zr-based metal-organic framework (MOF-808) supported Pd catalyst (Pd/MOF-808), which can efficiently catalyze the hydrogenolysis of HMF to DMF with a yield of 99% under 100 degrees C without any additives. In addition, the Pd/MOF-808 catalyst also showed good reusability, with the capability of being used five times without loss of activity.
