Cp*Rh(III)-catalyzednitro-directed C-H alkylation/alkenylationof nitroarenes has been reported for the first time. This protocolis associated with the features of high efficiency, broad substratescope, and good functional group compatibility. Additionally, gram-scaleexperiments and synthetic applications proved the practicability ofthe method. Moreover, preliminary mechanistic investigations consistentlyrevealed C-H bond cleavage as the rate-limiting step.
