In order to ascertain the water chemical characteristics and water quality status of shallow groundwater in the agricultural area of Wanzhou District, Chongqing, China, mathematical statistics and Piper three-line diagram were used to analyze the water chemical characteristics and types of 56 groups of shallow groundwater samples, and the F-value scoring method was used to evaluate the water quality. The results show that the quality of shallow groundwater in the agricultural area of Wanzhou District, Chongqing, China is good, mainly of Type I and II; the main hydrochemical types of groundwater are Ca-HCO3, Ca.Mg-HCO3, Ca-HCO3.SO4, Ca.Mg-HCO3.SO4 type is the main type; the quality of shallow groundwater is classified into three categories: "excellent", "good" and "poor", accounting for 87.9%, 10.2% and 1.9% respectively; "good" type of shallow groundwater It is distributed in a "planar shape", the shallow groundwater of the "good" type is distributed in a "band", and the shallow groundwater of the "poor" type is distributed in a "point-like" shape; the "good" and "good" types of groundwater can satisfy daily life Drinking, industrial and agricultural water demand. The "poor" type of groundwater can be used for agricultural and part of industrial water, and can be used as drinking water after proper treatment.
