The characteristics of excellent electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution for FeCoNi based high entropy alloys

摘要

We report a type of the high-entropy-alloy-electrocatalysts, and study the effect of the C element on the electrocatalytic performance for the HER. The Fe42.5-xCo25Ni25P7.5Cx(x = 1, 3, 7.5, 12, 17.5) ribbons were designed by different content of Fe, C. In 0.5 M H2SO4, the crystalline Fe35Co25Ni25P7.5C7.5 shows superior catalytic activities and stability due to the strong corrosion resistance of high-entropy alloy, achieving a low overpotential of 88 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm-2. And this overpotential remained good performance over 12 h under these conditions. This work not only provides a good idea for the development of high-entropy-alloy-catalysts, but also sheds light on understanding the alloying effects of the catalytic process.
