摘要

Ti-based metallic glass (Ti-MG) short flakes were combined with Al7075 powder in order to form a Ti-MG-reinforced Al-based metal matrix composite (AMC) sintered by spark plasma sintering. The results show that the metallic glassy reinforcements maintained their amorphous structure and were uniformly distributed in the matrix. This microstructure results in a super-high strength of the composite with a compressive strength of more than 1 GPa. The high strength of the composite is mainly derived from the direct bearing of the metallic glass and the dislocation strengthening by the glassy reinforcement and the second precipitate phases. The present study shows that good bonding is one of the major advantage of metallic glass reinforced AMCs.
