Euphpepluone S, a new lathyrane diterpenoid with anti-inflammatory activity from Euphorbia peplus L.

Euphpepluone S (1), a new lathyrane diterpenoid, was isolated and characterized from Euphorbia peplus. The structure of 1 was established by extensive spectroscopic analysis, NMR calculations with DP4+ analyses, and ECD calculations. Notably, compound 1 significantly suppressed the levels of NO, IL-1fi, IL-6 and TNF alpha in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells at 20 mu M, which showed comparable bioactivity as the positive control-dexamethasone.
